Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel diptych Boxers & Saints

am extremely excited to announce that Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel diptych Boxers & Saints has won the LA Times Book Prize for Young Adult Literature!

This is the first ever graphic novel to be recognized by the LA Times in a non-graphic novel category. To the left is a photo of Gene holding his coveted award.

I am also delighted to share the first starred review forSebastian and the Balloon, a Reuben Award Nomination for Ben Rides On, and a wonderful PW feature for This One Summer!

As always, if you need any additional materials, don’t hesitate to let me know.

Have a great weekend,
Miriam

THIS ONE SUMMER by Mariko Tamaki, illus. by Jillian Tamaki
Publishers Weekly, April 11, 2014: “Summer Blues: Mariko Tamaki and Jillian Tamaki”
“Subtle and thoughtful, this graphic novel emphasizes realism and emotion rather than fantasy and spectacle: It’s for readers young and old […] With stunning art by Jillian—who also illustrates for the New York Times, the New Yorker, and more—This One Summer is as ephemeral, breathtaking, and heartbreaking as summer love itself.”

THE UNDERTAKING OF LILY CHEN by Danica Novgorodoff
Shelf Awareness, April 18, 2014: STARRED REVIEW!
« “Exquisite watercolors illustrate this novel about an ancient tradition in the modern world.”

“I let the characters and the story lead me through those moments of the mundane and practical and into the mystical. A character can’t enter a transcendent moment without finding his or her way through a series of preceding tribulations.”
