Dee, Barbara MAYBE HE JUST LIKES YOU

MAYBE HE JUST LIKES YOU için bir başka fantastik ve düşündüren bir ticari inceleme. Bu bir BCCB'den geliyor:

The boys in Mila’s seventh grade class won’t leave her alone, coercing Mila into hugs, crowding her personal space, and touching inappropriate parts of her body without permission. Mila’s friends react with avoidance or jealousy to her pleas for help and support, and the adults in Mila’s life don’t understand her predicament, nor does Mila want to trouble her recently laid-off mother. The situation Mila faces may be all too familiar for female readers, and there is a pervading sense of helplessness even as Mila does all the things she’s “supposed” to do to get rid of the boys—saying “no,” enlisting friends for help, going to the guidance counselor, taking different routes home, and learning self-defense in karate. Mila’s struggle between denying the intentions of her classmates and being self-aware and upset about their treatment of her is realistic and heartbreaking, until the cathartic moment a teacher finally labels the behavior as sexual harassment. This would be an excellent choice to inspire conversations about the prevalence and scope of what’s considered sexual harassment, as well as help young readers identify what harassment could look like in their peers.
