ADRIFT by Tami Oldham Aschcraft

Şu anda Temmuz ortasına kadar sürecek "From Page to Screen" tablosunda B & N'de özellikli (Coop).  NYC metroda reklam afişleri bulunmakta.

“Quart details the many ways in which our country has failed its middle-class families, and it's a necessary, if not at all feel-good, read. It's okay to feel angry after reading this. In fact, you should. Let this inspire you to protest the rampant inequality in this country, which is dooming millions of people to lives of desperation and destitution and despair.”NYLON, “46 Great Books to Read This Summer”

“Squeezed, like Nickel and Dimed . . . is worth reading if you’re invested in better understanding poverty in America.”BITCH,“15 Books Feminists Should Read in June”

“Reminiscent of Barbara Ehrenreich’s Nickel and Dimed . . . will resonate with those feeling squeezed, and inform those who are not.”—Library Journal

“In this highly thoughtful and compassionate account, [Quart] describes the forces that are making the traditional aspects of the "American Dream" out of reach for many Americans. . . . Well-written, wide-ranging, and vital to understanding American life today.”—Kirkus, starred review

“[Quart’s] ambitious, top-tier reportage tells a powerful story of America today.”—Publishers Weekly

“Alissa Quart deftly chronicles the plight of Americans confronting the dangerous rise of Middle Class financial instability. The stories she passionately reports are heart-wrenching. They are also a clear warning that this nation is heading in a perilous direction. Squeezed is journalism at its best: exploratory, visceral, and searching for answers. An important work to which attention should—and must—be paid.”—David Corn, author of Russian Roulette

—Peggy Orenstein, author of Girls & Sex and Don’t Call Me Princess

Alissa Quart will help you realize that you’re not alone and it’s not your fault. Squeezed is profound, a sweeping, blistering portrait of hard-working people from all walks of life. It’s a rousing wakeup call that also points the way forward to a more equitable, expansive future.”—Astra Taylor, author of The People’s Platform

Adam Silvera'nın HISTORY IS ALL YOU LEFT ME ve  Becky Albertalli'nin SIMON VS HOMOSAPIEN AGENDA adlı eserlerinin tarzında

“Marked by whimsical humor with a healthy dose of irony. A cast of unforgettable characters includes a brown bear that is yellow (she's a blonde), underwater ghosts, and a group of overexcited retired postal trolls…. All aboard for an adventure like no other—readers will be delighted to learn it's just the first.” —Kirkus Reviews, starred review

“Rollicking entertainment.” —Sunday Times

“A harum-scarum fantasy adventure crammed with quirky action. Curious Suzy, with her thing for physics, discovers a secret railway mannered by trolls—of course they live under bridges, they are engineers—and an entire parallel universe run according to the non-laws of ‘fuzzics’. That needs saving. By her. But even here, not all is as it seems.” —The Observer

“When Suzy Smith discovers a grumpy troll building a railway through her house, she knows something is amiss. Soon she’s hurtled into adventure as the newest recruit abroad the Impossible Postal Express. Won in a six-way auction, there’s lots of buzz about this title— and deservedly so. It’s an incredibly confident debut, endlessly imaginative with highly inventive world-building and a plot that is every bit as unpredictable as the train itself.”—The Bookseller

“This debut fantasy is full of imaginative locales and fun twists, and readers will enjoy the creativity of Bell’s world and its look at how power left unchecked can corrupt.” —Publishers Weekly

“Compelling characters and terrific world building make this a winning tale for children who like fantasy full of warmth, humour and a little bit of peril.”—Irish Independent

“Just sit back and let your imagination run wild as you encounter amazing people and fantastical places courtesy of one of this year’s most exciting debut children’s authors.… THE TRAIN TO IMPOSSIBLE PLACES is a full-steam stunner and the first book in what promises to be a terrific series…. Destined to become a classic; a rip-roaring adventure full of mystery, magic, goodies, baddies, laughs, thrills, spills…. Bell delivers an extraordinary, exhilarating and inventive story beautifully illustrated by Flavia Sorrentino… a whistle-stop, action-packed journey in which the spirit of adventure and a spirited girl are the driving forces, and where the impossible really does become possible. —Lancashire Evening Post

“Bell sets a smart pace, guiding Suzy smoothly through one impossibility after another in a way that keeps readers off-balance without bogging them down in reality-based objections; spindly line drawings help picture the action. At the same time, Bell cannily reveals the superstructure of a plot that involves the fate of all the Impossible Places, and even finesses a particularly hard-to-swallow reversal in a way that makes sense. The entire edifice is constructed and torn down in less than twenty-four hours in Suzy’s time—the kind of efficiency and solid storytelling that a troll would admire—while promising potential future adventures for Suzy.” —The Horn Book

“A rollicking adventure ensues reminiscent of Terry Pratchett and Diana Wynne Jones. There is plenty of humor to season Bell's debut novel, and the characters and plot are refreshingly well developed and raise serious questions about honor and freedom. Fortunately, there will be more adventures in this first in a projected series. All aboard!” —Booklist

“This world-hopping adventure is clearly inspired by the escapades of Doctor Who. Intrepid protagonist Suzy has all of the resourcefulness, guts and smarts of the Doctor, and her journey through the impossible places aboard the Impossible Postal Express takes her to a world she could never have dreamed of.” —The Times Educational Supplement

“Great fun—fast-moving and inventive. It reminded me of Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, and the more whimsical bits of Doctor Who.” —Philip Reeve, author of Mortal Engines

“An exciting, imaginative, wild ride of a story that never lets up for a minute.” —Robin Stevens, author of the Murder Most Unladylike series

Maceraya, okul çocuklarına yönelik The Train to Impossible Places dizisinin muhteşem devamı ikinci kitabımızda da devam ediyor!

Suzy Smithe arkadaşları, The Impossible Postal Express'in yeniden başlatılması için bir araya geldiler.
