COVER REVEALS:

LITTLE ROBOT by Ben Hatke
LA Times Hero Complex, January 8, 2015: SEE IT HERE!
Pretty soon I found myself doodling a second and then a third Little Robot comic. I didn’t have much of a plan in mind beyond ‘I’m going to do this for as long as it’s fun.’ And it was fun! It kept on being fun!”

REVIEWS:

THE GLORKIAN WARRIOR EATS ADVENTURE PIE by James Kochalka
Kirkus, January 15, 2015 issue
“Silliness reigns supreme…Kochalka's intensely zippy and quirky humor never misses a beat and rolls fluidly from one wisecrack to another.”

SECRET CODERS by Gene Luen Yang
Publishers Weekly, January 7, 2015: AUTHOR INTERVIEW!
“I've used comics in my classroom before, but Secret Coders is really my first long-form educational comics project. The premise of Secret Coders is reminiscent of Harry Potter. An intrepid band of tweens stumbles upon a secret school, only instead of teaching magic, the school teaches coding. We hope that as our protagonists become coders, our readers will too.”

28 DAYS by Charles R. Smith Jr., illus. by Shane W. Evans
Booklist, February 1, 2015 issue: 2nd STARRED REVIEW!
« “Using a variety of creative techniques (rhymed couplets, free verse, eulogies, primary source documents, and others) complemented
by rich, vibrant illustrations, this account, with an entry for each of the 28 days in February, briefly but effectively summarizes significant events and individuals from the Revolutionary War through modern day.”

School Library Journal, January 2015 issue
“Highly recommended as a reference book, an example of poetic forms, and a work of art.”

A BED FOR KITTY by Yasmine Surovec
The New York Times Book Review, December 21, 2014
“With comic- style art in an offbeat palette heavy on shades of olive and peach, Surovec plays for laughs the mysterious phenomenon of children who will sleep anywhere but in their own beds.”

Booklist, January 2015 issue
“Surovec, author of the popular Cats vs. Humans blog, applies her thorough knowledge of feline behavior to this charming story and perfectly captures the infuriating tendencies cats have for doing exactly the opposite of what their owners want.”

THE IRIDESCENCE OF BIRDS by Patricia MacLachlan, illus. by Hadley Hooper
The Wall Street Journal, December 27, 2014
“A young child will not simply read about Henri Matisse, for instance, in Patricia MacLachlan’s i but will, from the very first page, experience the artist’s vibrant aesthetic through Hadley Hooper’s illustrated homage.”

Emma Ledbetter, Atheneum Books for Young Readers (in Publisher’s Weekly article “Children's Publishers Choose Their Favorite Reads of 2014”)
“I left MoMA’s Matisse cut-outs exhibit feeling quiet awed, and after picking up this beautiful picture book in the gift shop, I felt the same way.”

SECOND BANANA by Keith Graves
Booklist, January 2015 issue
“Whether rocketing through the sky or receiving accolades in the ring, the two primates steal the show. They are just plain funny.”

SPECIAL DELIVERY by Philip C. Stead, illus. by Matthew Cordell
Publishers Weekly, December 19, 2014 issue
“Strike[s] precisely the right note of genteel wackiness. It isn’t easy to sustain and control a story that unfolds with the speed and unpredictability that this one does, but Stead and Cordell—like Sadie herself—deliver the goods.”

WINNIE by Sally M. Walker, illus. by Jonathon D. Voss
Booklist, December 2014 issue
“This story is so intrinsically appealing and delightful that the final act comes as a bonus surprise: author A. A. Milne saw the bear and was inspired to create Winnie-the-Pooh. Beautifully illustrated with humanistic, old-fashioned washes, Walker’s true tale is a low-key heart warmer about an unexpected interspecies bond.”
