Gene Luen Yang: SECRET CODERS serisi

Gene Luen Yang'ın( AMERICAN BORN CHINESE, THE ETERNAL SMILE adlı eserlerin yazarı) Eisner ödülü aldığını, Ulusal Kitap ödülünde (BOXERS and SAINTS) ile finale kaldığını ayrıca yaklaşık 15 yıldır lise öğrencilerine bilgisayar bilimi eğitimi verdiğini biliyor muydunuz?

4 Questions for Gene Yang – Publishers Weekly: Author interview January 7, 2015:
“I've used comics in my classroom before, but Secret Coders is really my first long-form educational comics project. The premise of Secret Coders is reminiscent of Harry Potter. An intrepid band of tweens stumbles upon a secret school, only instead of teaching magic, the school teaches coding. We hope that as our protagonists become coders, our readers will too.”
Wired.com announcement:
“A Graphic Novel That’s Like Harry Potter, But With Computers Instead of Wands”
“The premise of Secret Coders may sound familiar to fans of young adult literature: Two students discover a mysterious school hidden just beyond the limits of their humdrum lives, and are ushered into a world of secret knowledge and power that they never imagined possible. However, unlike Harry Potter’s Hogwarts, the school in this graphic novel teaches a form of magic that readers can learn right alongside the fictional students. That’s because they’re not learning how to levitate objects or charm mythical beasts—they’re learning how to code.”
The piece includes eight pieces of art from Secret Coders, as well as a discussion from Gene about the importance of coding in education.
